Telegram, the popular messaging app, has announced the launch of its own advertising platform that will allow channel owners to earn rewards in Toncoin, the native token of the TON blockchain. The Telegram Ad Platform will officially launch in March and will be available to advertisers in nearly 100 countries.
Telegram Ad Platform: A New Way to Monetize Content
Telegram is known for its broadcast channels, which are one-to-many communication tools that can reach millions of users. According to Telegram’s founder and CEO Pavel Durov, these channels generate over one trillion monthly views, but only around 10% of them are monetized via Telegram Ads, a privacy-focused promotional tool.
With the Telegram Ad Platform, channel owners will be able to receive 50% of any revenue that Telegram makes from displaying ads in their channels. This will create a new incentive for content creators to produce high-quality and engaging content for their audiences.
TON Blockchain: A Fast and Secure Payment System
The Telegram Ad Platform will exclusively use the TON blockchain, which is a scalable and decentralized network that claims to be the world’s fastest. The TON blockchain was launched in October 2023 by the TON Foundation, an independent organization that took over the development of the project after Telegram abandoned it due to regulatory pressure.
The TON blockchain has a native token called Toncoin, which is used to pay for transactions, smart contracts, and services on the network. Toncoin has a market capitalization of over $8.6 billion and is ranked as the 15th-largest cryptocurrency by CoinMarketCap.
According to Durov, the use of the TON blockchain will ensure that ad payments and withdrawals are fast and secure. He also said that channel owners will be able to either cash out their Toncoins or reinvest them in promoting and upgrading their channels.
Telegram: A Leader in Innovation and Privacy
Telegram is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world, with over 800 million monthly active users and 196 million daily active users. Telegram is known for its innovative features, such as end-to-end encryption, self-destructing messages, bots, stickers, and voice chats.
Telegram is also a strong advocate for privacy and freedom of expression, as it has resisted censorship and surveillance attempts by various governments. Telegram has been banned in several countries, such as Russia, China, Iran, and Pakistan, for refusing to hand over user data or comply with local laws.
Telegram’s launch of its own advertising platform powered by the TON blockchain is another example of its commitment to innovation and privacy. It will also create a new opportunity for content creators and advertisers to reach a global and engaged audience.
